Speaker Types

Speaker is a well know device nowadays and even a child knows about these things. But the information generally we’ve of something is usually very limited and not of a very high standard. And that is also the case with the speakers and their types. I think before reading this article you had never had thought how interesting the systems of speaker is!!
But here we’d discuss the speaker in details and you’ll come to know the different speaker types and their uses in general.

Basically speakers or loudspeaker or any speaker system is a device which uses electricity or electric energy you can say to convert the different electrical signals in the form of sound or voice. And the speaker usually consists of different parts. It is usually enclosed and some additional electronics are used to make it work. And they work in audio systems and in fact they are most moveable component in the system.

Different things are used to control the frequencies produced by the speakers and these drivers are attached with the speakers so that the speakers can give better frequencies because they are the most reluctant units in the audio system as compared to the other components of the audio systems.

There are many speakers’ types in the market and there are various designs which are popular nowadays. Almost all the designs and specifications are used in different speakers for several occasion and places according to needs.

The basic design of the speaker normally consists of a round shape basket which is getting narrow until it ends on place where magnet is fixed. It also has voice coil and a spider on it to throw out the sound. So when the speaker gets the electricity a magnetic field come into the existence and it works with the current so it becomes the electromagnet. In this way, the coil and cone and the other things interact with each other hence coil gives the mechanical force to the cone and in this way the cone moves to and fro to produce the sound. It is the way of reproducing the sound by the speaker.

After understanding the basics of the speakers and how they function we can see the different speaker types and their system designs. For example the mostly used system designs which are called crossover are of two natures. One is called active crossover while the other one is named as passive crossover. These crossovers do a very important thing when speaker is functioning. If the crossover is the active crossover then it will work to divide the frequencies in different ranges before the amplifier. Whereas on the other hand passive crossover can not do these function and they are used just in those speakers where not so much power is used. For example they are used in those systems which are designed to use in homes or other places likewise.

Another thing which is important for all speaker types is the placement and listening environment related to the speaker. For example to produce a good listening environment in which you can enjoy the best quality of sound you’re getting for speakers you must have a very reflective and moderate size of the place and also good arrangements of the furniture. These all things are important for every speaker type.

One thing must not be neglected as well and that is the placement of the speakers because if someone does not put the speaker in a place from where the voice can be reflect well or from where the sound waves can not travel well then in this case it would be very irritating for the listeners. It is because of the fact that the listeners will not be able to understand the sound properly. So the placement of the speakers must be good.
